About the role
As a Lead Platform Engineer working remotely from South Africa, you will lead the development and architecture of our marketing technology stack serving UK and international clients. You will work closely with our London engineering team to design and build scalable platform solutions that power our performance marketing campaigns.
Day to day, you'll be leading platform architecture decisions, developing core platform features, mentoring engineering team members, and collaborating with product teams to deliver technical solutions. This role leverages South African technical expertise in platform engineering and software architecture.
Working pattern and flexibility
This is a senior leadership role available as full-time, fully remote from South Africa. You'll work closely with our London headquarters team through structured communication and regular video calls. Core collaboration hours align with South African mornings (UK afternoons) for optimal technical collaboration. Time tracking software is required for security and progress monitoring.
Leadership trajectory
This is a senior leadership role with opportunities to advance to Principal Engineer or Head of Engineering positions. You'll lead platform engineering initiatives and manage engineering teams. What you will be doing
Lead platform architecture and technical design decisions for marketing technology stack.

What you will bring
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
5+ years of experience in senior software engineering or platform engineering roles.
Proven track record in platform architecture and technical leadership.
Proficiency in modern programming languages and platform technologies.
Strong experience with cloud platforms, microservices, and scalable system design.
Excellent English communication and technical leadership skills for UK teams.
Right to work in South Africa with a reliable high-speed internet connection.

Compensation and progression
Base salary: R60,000 to R70,000 per month (full-time).
Currency options: Choose to be paid in ZAR, USD, GBP, or a combination.
Performance bonuses: Platform engineering success bonuses based on technical impact and system performance (available after 6-month probation).

30-60-90 day expectations

Probation and performance framework
6-month probation period with monthly performance reviews and clear success metrics.
Performance thresholds: Must achieve platform engineering leadership targets to progress beyond probation.
